The Arts

Three fifth grade girls show off their recent butterfly prints created in Studio Art class

The Arts are a comprehensive and integral component of the Mount Tamalpais School program.

Starting in Kindergarten, students begin classes in Music, Performing Arts, and Studio Arts. The arts curriculum is scaffolded over the years as students gain skills and confidence to build on foundational learning. Arts faculty work with the same students for up to nine consecutive years, from kindergarten through eighth grade. This kind of sustained, year-over-year relationship allows our teachers to know each child as an individual artist and person — building a depth of mentorship that simply isn't possible in a single-year classroom model.
