High School Counseling

MTS has an established history of very strong high school placement. Bay Area independent and parochial schools, boarding schools, and Marin County public schools are well informed about the strength of our academic, social-emotional, and co-curricular programs. We partner with families at every step in the high school application process with a close eye to finding high schools that best fit each student.

The high school process, beginning in the spring of 7th grade, is supported by teachers and administrators and is led by our Head of School, Andrew Davis. Andrew is a former high school admission director and enjoys working closely with the students and families through this important process. Nick Wilsey, Head of Middle School, works in concert with Andrew to support our 8th grade families.

CAROLINE KESMODEL, PARENT OF CHLOE (THE HOTCHKISS SCHOOL)

"We had Andrew’s guidance for both of our daughters in the high school process and Nick’s help for our younger daughter. They are very supportive in helping identify the best school fit for each of their learning styles, goals, and interests. The unique MTS community means Andrew and Nick truly knew our girls and their advocacy for all MTS students with the high schools through decision day was invaluable. The process could not have gone smoother for either daughter; both girls were accepted at their first choice school and have loved their experiences."

"Andrew surpassed expectations by streamlining the unique challenge of boarding school admissions. The team’s expertise through the process and invaluable knowledge of the high school landscape, led to a coveted admission in a highly competitive year."

SHEILA WHITE, PARENT OF TYLER (THE BRANSON SCHOOL)

"Entering the high school admissions season for our oldest child was daunting at first, as we had no knowledge of the process and were quite overwhelmed. Andrew and Nick swiftly alleviated our fears as they helped us navigate the field and narrow down our choices based on a genuine understanding of our son’s personality, learning style, and extracurricular talents. We feel incredibly fortunate that our son ended up at his first choice high school, and that Andrew and Nick were able to guide our son based on the student/teacher relationships that are able to flourish at a small school like Mount Tamalpais School."
