MTS Middle School English Teacher
Mount Tamalpais School (MTS), a K-8 independent school serving up to 240 students in Mill Valley, California, is looking for a 7th and 8th grade English teacher. This teacher will have the opportunity to work with outstanding colleagues and a dynamic leadership team to better develop critical thinking and writing skills at the culmination of the MTS program.
Our mission calls on us to develop “knowledge and goodness” and to be “inspiring and nurturing” in our work as educators. The new English teacher will be asked to do this as she/he teaches both academic classes and serves as a homeroom teacher and advisor. Our MTS 2020 Strategic Plan invites our teachers to further realize our goal of a program “where tradition meets tomorrow” pairing enduring skills such as close reading and expository writing with project based learning, interdisciplinary experiences, and technology integration. We are also working to incorporate more diverse voices and perspectives in the curriculum while exploring topics of equity and inclusion. The middle school English teacher will be instrumental in the future of these initiatives, as well as the evolution of our middle school program.
MTS, known for the strength of its middle school program, is at an exciting place in 2019 and beyond. With a robust budget for professional development and a clear vision for the future, an English teacher who wants to further develop and strengthen our successful program while preparing students for the rigors of high school school will thrive.
