The Joy of Teddy Bear Day and the Buddy Bear Program

The magic of Teddy Bear Day was everywhere on campus today! This beloved MTS tradition marks the start of our Buddy Bear program, where younger students are paired with older students to build friendships that grow year after year. Each child brings a teddy bear to school, and on this special day, Buddy Bears meet for the very first time. 

From Kindergarten to 8th grade, the Buddy Bear program weaves connections across ages. Our youngest students find role models to guide and cheer them on, while our older students embrace the joy of mentoring—and rediscover the playfulness of childhood along the way.

Throughout the year, Buddy Bears will gather for monthly lunches, shared projects, and festive celebrations like Día de los Muertos and Halloween.

 What begins with teddy bears quickly blossoms into a lasting tradition of care, community, and fun.
