Students Participate in Election

This week we have been talking about voting. We are talking about what it means to vote, why we vote, and how we vote. Students are reading books about voting, and Kindergarteners made their own books about voting.

Today, our students participated in an election. MTS teachers created a polling booth and dropbox in our covered courtyard so that our students can participate in the democratic process, learn about voting procedures, and experience first hand the emotions that may ensue when the results are announced. The K-2 homerooms voted on an important election issue ("What will our theme be for Free Dress Day on Friday?") using the newly constructed polling booth/ballot dropbox.

We are very excited to see our students involved in the voting process. Stay tuned to hear about the voting results!
