MTS Students' Artwork on Display in the Transamerica Pyramid Dreams Exhibition
Suzanne Beard's students from last year (now 5th graders) currently have their artwork on display in the Pyramid Dreams Exhibition in the Redwood Park at the Transamerica Pyramid Center. In addition to the outstanding installation, the organizers printed a beautiful book of every drawing by students in grades 2-5 from participating Bay Area schools as well. (The book is free to all participating families.)
Last year, as part of the 50th anniversary of the Transamerica Pyramid Center, MTS students visited the iconic structure to learn about the history and design of the building and the plans for its future. Students then participated in an art activity focused around their future dreams. MTS student, Jasper, was selected as one of the art contest winners, and his work was framed for the show.
The Transamerica Center is reimagining its Redwood Park as a center for arts, culture, and community gathering. The Pyramid Arts program will rotate twice a year in the park and on the 2nd floor of Transamerica Building 2. The debut exhibition currently on display features fantastical fauna by French artists Claude and Françoise-Xavier Lalanne (Les Lalanne) and a Foster + Partners 'Vertical City' exhibit in the annex.
The exhibition is open by appointment from now until 10/13/24:
Saturday, 10am-4pm
Sunday 10am-4pm
Tuesday 3pm-6pm
Thursday 3pm-5pm
(The exhibit is on the 2nd floor of the annex and the doorman/security guard lets visitors into that space. The building models are in the rear lobby of the main building.)
