Learning About La Charreada for Hispanic Heritage Month
Our Kindergarten and 2nd grade classes were lucky to have MTS Teaching Associate, Josue Camacho, come in and talk about one aspect of his family culture and traditions. Josue has family in Mexico and Texas who participate in “La Charreada” or rodeo. They learn how to ride horses, use a lasso and rope, and even learn how to do special rope tricks. Josue shared pictures of himself and his family, and shared about this aspect of Mexican culture. Students have also been learning about influential Hispanic people, and watching videos of Folklorico and Flamenco dancing.
