A Beautiful Day for Día de los Muertos Celebrations

We had an extraordinarily beautiful day for the MTS Día de los Muertos celebrations this year! The day started with an all school gather in the gym led by our 5th grade students who shared about the history of the holiday. During the morning, buddy bears were paired up to look at the tumbas (tombstones) that the middle school students made and the ofrenda (altar) in the library in honor of loved ones that have passed away. Churros and horchata were served during morning recess, and then everyone enjoyed the surprise mariachi band that came to serenade the community during lunch and lunch recess. A huge shout out to teachers Barbara and Gerry Guarriello for organizing the day and to our parent volunteers who helped decorate the ofrenda and prepare snacks for the students.
