Celebrating Black History

Kindergarteners hosted a fabulous all-school gather on Wednesday, February 15, to celebrate black history! They started their presentation by leading the school in a game of charades, highlighting different inventions by black scientists and engineers that we use every day. They acted out the objects, and students in the audience had the opportunity to guess what they were doing.

Next, students led the school in singing "I Shall Not Be Moved." It was great to watch our youngest students so engaged in the topic and bravely performing and speaking in front of the whole school.

The gather continued with an interactive West African drum/dance performance by locals Baba Kokayi Postell and Francis Kofi Akotuah.

Later that morning, students enjoyed a sweet potato treat from Sweet Tey's in Sausalito that parent volunteers contributed and served.

A big shout out to our parent volunteers who helped organize the dance & treat. Thank you!
