End-of-Year Teacher Gifts - New Policy

Dear MTS Community,

At the request of and in partnership with the Parent Association, we have created a new end-of-year gift policy. The goal of this new policy is to provide a more equitable experience for our Professional Community (teachers and staff) in our departmentalized program. We hope that this new policy will be an easier and more inclusive experience for families. As always, gift-giving is entirely optional.

Teacher & Staff Gift Policy
For families that would like to thank and honor the professional community, we will collect a Professional Community Thank You Fund. This fund will be divided equally between all teachers and staff (not administrators) after the close of the fund. Any dollars that are donated after the close (June 7) will be used during the next gift-giving event. Because this fund is a direct pass-through to employees, gifts are not tax-deductible. Families that would like to give individual gifts are still welcome to do so. Written notes from students to teachers are always appreciated. We ask, though, that no other group gifts be organized by class parents or others. We will share an alphabetical list of all the families who contribute to the Thank You Fund with the faculty and staff.

Giving in Spring, 2021
If you would like to give an end-of-year thank you gift, please go to the MTS Shopify website and purchase the gift level you wish to purchase. You may combine any dollar values on the Shopify page before checking out. We will close the fund on Monday, June 7 in time to share the proceeds with the Professional Community.

Policy Feedback
This is our first gift-giving season with this new policy. The Parent Association welcomes your feedback. You can share it with PA president Liz Murray.

Thank you!
We appreciate the MTS community’s collective gratitude for teachers and staff.

Best,

Liz Murray, PA President
Andrew Davis, Head of School
