Student COVID Testing On-Campus 1/7/21

All students (K-8) will be required to take a COVID test on or after January 7 and to provide negative test results in order to return to campus in 2021.

MTS will be hosting a drive-through saliva based PCR test on Thursday, January 7. Please carefully read the following information below about the testing process.

Because collecting a sample might be more difficult for the younger students, you may pick up a test kit in advance and collect the sample at home. Please pick up a test kit from the Front Office on Wednesday, January 6 between 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. On the morning of January 7, collect your child's sample. You can then drop off your child’s sample during the time slot that corresponds with your child’s last name in the testing schedule below.

Day of Testing Information
  • DO NOT use mouthwash 2 hours prior to your test
  • DO NOT brush your teeth, eat, or drink anything at least 30 minutes before your test. That includes gum, breath mints, water, or any other fluid.
Testing Schedule

Please arrive in the MTS parking lot at the time below that corresponds with your child’s last name. This is a drive-through test so it will not be necessary to park.

  • 9:00 am - 9:30 am: Last name beginning with A-C
  • 9:30 am - 10:00 am:  Last name beginning with D - G
  • 10:00 am - 10:30 am:  Last name beginning with H - L
  • 10:30 am - 11:00 am:  Last name beginning with M - O
  • 11:00 am - 11:30 am:  Last name beginning with P - R
  • 11:30 am - 12:00 pm:  Last name beginning with S - Z
Tips for Saliva Testing
  • Keep your mask on until you are ready to test.
  • The tester will hand you:
    • An alcohol wipe prep pad
    • A Saliva Collection Aid
    • A collection tube
  • Uncap the tube and hold it in your hand.
  • Tear open the collection aid package, remove the aid, and place it securely onto the open end of the collection tube (the wider end of the collection straw pushes down into the tube).
  • Gather saliva in your mouth and gently push it into the straw. DO NOT blow the saliva into the tube. You’ll end up with bubbles and will need to wait for them to dissipate.
  • The collection tube must be filled to about half way.
  • Remove the collection aid and discard it.
  • Replace the cap back on to the collection tube.
  • Open the alcohol wipe package and wipe down the outside of the tube.
  • Place the tube back in the plastic ziplock bag with the QR Code.
