The mathematics program enables students to become confident in their mathematical ability, to develop critical thinking skills, to be active problem solvers, and, most importantly, to become lifetime learners. To this end, the curriculum is designed to provide a
comprehensive and sequential program for students in first through eighth grade. At all grade levels, students meet in small groups and work with curricular materials designed to fit the students’ learning styles, to meet the demands of the class, and to challenge the students appropriately.
Curricular strands for grades one through five center on the following concepts: numeration, operations, and computation; data and chance; geometry and measurement; patterns; functions, and algebra. Students in the middle school grades continue to build on these foundational concepts but begin to focus on application, problem solving, data analysis, geometry, and a more in-depth study of patterns, functions and algebra.

On-Line Resources |
Students in grades 1 through 8 can participate in the Math Magician Challenge. Click on the Math Magician link and choose a level. Students in grades 1 through 5 may participate in either Level 1 or Level 2. Middle school students may only participate in Level 2. To record times students print out certificates for 100% accuracy in a level and turn the certificates in to their math teachers. Please be sure to input the students name before choosing a topic area (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). They only need to bring in additional certificates when a faster time is earned in that area. |
